Message from the Headteacher
I am honoured to be the new Headteacher at Hatherden CE Primary School (VA). It is a friendly school with a rich history dating back to 1725. Hatherden School is currently the oldest school building still being used as an educational establishment, in Hampshire . I am a custodian, in a long line of Headteachers, from when George I was on the throne.
Recently, the community came together to welcome me at Christ Church, Hatherden. It was a wonderful service with many people speaking about the importance of the school in the community. I feel immensely privileged to be appointed to lead Hatherden CE Primary School, and extremely welcome in this small, rural community.
I am passionate about providing high quality and rich learning experiences for all children. I have worked as a senior leader in many schools, both in rural and urban areas of the UK and abroad. I have taught all age groups, but being an advocate for lifelong learning, I continue to learn new skills and teaching methods from colleagues and local partner schools.
Knowing the pupils and their families is extremely important to me. I recently spent two days on a residential trip with our KS2 children which provided me with the opportunity to get to know them as young people and what they are interested in, besides school.
All pupils, from Reception to Year 6, attended our end of half term celebration worship on Thursday 24th October. Along with the residential, this afforded the children the opportunity to shine as individuals. I was delighted to witness an array of certificates and badges, from a variety of sources, including team sports, gymnastics, swimming, Girl Guiding, Scouting and first aid. The pupils showed great pride in their achievements and the audience showed respect and fellowship. Visit our Values and School Vision pages for more information about moral and spiritual development at Hatherden.
Please contact the school office if you’d like to visit the school and meet me in person .
Thank you for visiting our website.
