Governors

The Governing Body at Hatherden is a volunteer group of individuals from the local community and parent body. Each Governor brings to the Board a different range of skills and expertise from their professional lives.

The Governors' role is to support the Head Teacher, leadership team and school staff in delivering excellence in teaching. The Governors' mission at Hatherden is to:

‘Inspire our school management team to deliver excellence in teaching and school management through courage, love and fellowship.

Support the teaching team in delivering pupil ownership of their learning and inspiring pupils to continue to learn academically, emotionally, culturally and spiritually throughout their lives. 

Challenge the school management team to deliver high standards of educational achievement, promoting the safety and well-being of pupils, a culture of politeness and good behaviour, in a safe environment, striving for measurable outstanding results.’

The Full Governing Body comprises of the Head Teacher, Governor volunteers and the Parish Priest. Each Governor’s term of office runs for four years. The Chair of Governors and the Vice-Chair are elected annually at the first meeting of the Governing Body in any new academic year.

There are several committees; Resources, Education, Admissions, Pay and Performance Management.  The Resources and Education Committees meet half termly and all others on an annual basis.  All discussions at committee level are fed back to the Full Governing Body, which meets each half term.

Parents can meet Governors at school events and fundraisers.
