Introduction to Hatherden- the building:
If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.
As per Government guidelines, the Governors of Hatherden Primary School have a requirement to reach out to the local community at least once every seven years to consult on its Admissions Policy. This was last completed in February 2018.
In this regard you are invited to read the Policy and send comments to the Governors via the school office.
21/22 Policy : Admissions Policy 2021-22
We have applied to the Office of Schools Adjudicator for a variation to our 2021-22 admissions policy in relation to criteria 5i.
The application is to insert the following paragraph –
Covid 19 - In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship the Christian church has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church or alternative premises have been available for public worship.
As soon as we receive notification that this has been approved our admissions policy will be updated.

Absence and Illness:
Parents/carers are legally required to secure full-time education for children of compulsory school age. The education provision must be suitable to the child’s age, aptitude and ability, and to any special needs the child has. A child who is registered at school must attend regularly and punctually.
We understand that there are occasions when a child may need to be removed from school for circumstances outside of the norm. These may include urgent medical appointments, scheduled hospital appointments, examinations or 'rare, significant and unavoidable' circumstances that cannot be scheduled at another time. Should you need to excuse your child from school for one of these reasons, you must complete a 'Request for Leave' form and submit this to the office, in advance of the absence, for approval by the Headteacher.
If your child will be absent from school i.e. due to illness, you must phone the school office on: 01264 735260 before 9.30am on the day of absence. After this time your child will be marked as an unauthorised absence.
The school monitors pupil attendance on a frequent basis. Please see the main policies page for our Attendance Policy.
Hatherden Church of England Primary School is committed to protecting the privacy and security of personal information. We collect a lot of data and information about its pupils so that we can run effectively as a school. Please take time to read the privacy notices which can be found on the main policies page.
The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is Mrs L. V. Bracken (Headteacher).
Please find below a link to the schools' financial benchmarking website, for your information:
If your child has medical needs we ask all parents to complete an Individual Health Care Plan (IHCP) and discuss their child's needs with the SENCo and classteacher. Should your child require any medication throughout the school day for a short term ailment, we ask all parents to complete an 'administration of medication' form which can be obtained from the school office.
Please see the main policies page for information regarding how we support children with medical conditions.
Payments into the school for lunches, trips, visits and any other costs are all paid online at Hatherden via ScoPay. Each parent, on entering the school, is provided with a login, so that payments can easily be made from home and can be tracked securely through the Tucasi system which we use to monitor and collate funds.
If you haven't received a login/password or have forgotten yours, please speak with the school office who can issue you a new one. The office can also assist if you are unsure how to use the system.
Our school uniform policy can be found on our main policies page. School uniform is ordered directly by parents to ensure it can be received in the most timely and efficient manner. Uniform can currently be purchased through Skoolkit or My Clothing:
After School Clubs:
We provide a number of extra-curricular activities in which children can participate each term. These vary depending upon staff commitments but can include activities such as art, music, maths, science, theatre and sport. This half term we are offering the following clubs;
Monday - Sports ( Reception and KS1 group)
Tuesday - Sports ( KS2 group)
Tuesday - Forest Fun ( KS2 group)
Unfortunately, due to the announcment regarding the closure of schools on Monday 4th January, clubs will NOT run this half term. Updated 11.1.21 L.Bracken
Clubs change each half term.
Messy Church is also held at the school on a regular basis.
Our school lunches are provided by HC3S, who are a Hampshire-based catering company. The menus they offer are varied and will accommodate the needs of children presenting with diagnosed allergies.
Children in EYFS & KS1, and those eligible for free school meals, can claim a free hot meal each day. If you are unsure whether your child may be eligible for free-school meals, please speak with a member of the office staff.
In order to see what is for lunch each day, please click on the link below, which will take you directly to the HC3S website. The menu is available in different languages from this page.
